Where has UK manufacturing gone?

If you were ever wondering what has happened to UK manufacturing ... 1.4m less jobs over 20 years whilst the labour market grew by 5.7m in the same period. At least we now have a published UK Industrial Strategy, however I'm looking for the chapter that says we will make stuff again?
